COLLECTION SPECIALIST

General Duties:
Collection Specialists work on the blood drives performing blood collection functions in strict accordance with all regulations. Responsibilities include physically setting up and breaking down at sites; venitpunture; health histories and vital signs; determining donor eligibility and promoting excellent donor care during the collection of safe blood units.

Qualifications

  • Requires job knowledge equivalent to that attained in a High School education with additional technical training.
  • Experience of one year of blood center phlebotomy preferred.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, effective communication and public relation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to irregular hours and frequent scheduling changes.
  • Must exhibit professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Drives own vehicle to and from collection sites.
  • This position is in OSHA Category I in view of the fact that it requires working under conditions where the potential exists to make contact with blood or blood components and/or human bodily fluids or tissue samples as a result of splashes, spills and/or needle sticks.
