DONOR INFORMATION SPECIALIST

General Duties:
This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of both computer and manual records related to the blood donation process. Updates exisiting donor records, creates new donor records and screens donors against the Donor Deferral Register (DDR). Maintains donor confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Requires job knowledge equivalent to that gained through a high school education with additional technical training.
- Requires proficient typing skills and significant experience in data entry. TOtal experience factor of two to four years.
- Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- This position is in OSHA Category II in view of the fact that the incumbent occasionally, on an unplanned basis, is required to work under conditions where the potential exists to make contact with blood or blood components and/or human body fluids or tissue samples as a result of splashes, spills, and/or needle sticks.
